DQS NewsSmall Eagle

were privileged to enjoy a moving presentation offered by a young lady I only know as Clarissa. This presentation covered many of the aspects of women’s, particularly nurses, involvement in Vietnam during the War. Rousing applause and appreciation followed the conclusion of this wonderful effort. (Clarissa’s involvement in our banquet was not planned prior to that afternoon. Our thanks go to her and her parents, and to the DQS members who discovered her and invited her to perform for us, for the opportunity to hear and witness her talented, moving presentation! We honored those involved in the Operation Gold Star formation and effort, those who participated in the first (of what we hope to be many) Gold Star Trip to Vietnam, the Gold Star Mothers present, those who have given special effort to DQS & this reunion and other guests present. Musical selections, thoughts and appreciations were also presented. Major General (ret) Victor Hugo (1/44 in Vietnam) shared some thoughts and memories with us.

After a short break, we commenced the DQS Candlelight Memorial Service, which honors those DQS soldiers who gave their lives in Vietnam. We can’t and won’t forget them! As usual, this was a moving and meaningful service. Somewhere around midnight or so we drifted off to our rooms for some much needed rest. It had been a full and meaningful day!

Sunday morning’s DQS Church/Uplift Service brought this fine, moving, meaningful and tiring reunion to a close. Hugs, handshakes, tears & etc were the order of the day as departures began. We were all tired and a little sad; but glad that we had come and experienced the events that took place. Mostly we were happy to have had the opportunity to see and visit with one another once again.

DUES DONATIONS - DUES DONATIONS

Please remember that the lifeblood of our organization is your annual Dues Donation! Without it and you, we would not exist. As we embark upon another year of fellowship and brotherhood, do your part to ensure our continued future. Many have already done so. If you haven’t, please see the membership form in this newsletter and forward your donation today. If you wish to contribute extra, or contribute for our brothers who can’t, (so that we may continue to serve and inform everyone) we would welcome your thoughtfulness. We were together then — let’s move forward together now! Greater shared efforts will yield greater shared results. Thanks & may the DQS Spirit fill and warm your heart!
