Red Sigle, who has performed this function for the past several years, has found it necessary to 'lighten his load' and has worked with Richard to accomplish a seamless transfer. Red has significantly increased and updated our abilities in this regard, along with other services he provided to our association. We owe Red an extreme debt of gratitude for the time, effort and etc that he freely gave toward our successes as an organization. Red - from all of DQS "JOB WELL DONE!" & "THANKS"!
We are confident that Richard, who also maintains our Web Site(s), will do an excellent job and commend him for his willingness to help out. Thanks Richard!
As anyone who had handled this or pieces of this information (however successfully - or not) in past knows, this task is vital to our organization and it takes a great deal of dedication to keep everything up to date. Please assist in this effort by forwarding all information to Richard in a timely manner.
Turner Publishing, located in Paducah Kentucky and the publisher of many military books, has agreed to publish (and help write) a book on DQS and our service in Vietnam. Shortly you will receive a packet of information that will explain what they need and how they will accomplish this. This information will explain what you need to do to help and to get your informiation included in the book. Please respond in a timely mmmer (there will be deadlines) and help make this the best book that it can be. Let's preserve the DQS story for history! It is our story (yours & mine) and it is a once in a lifetime opportunity to put our history and our stories together for future generations. Let them know that DQS was there and DQS didn't fust show up - we stood tall!
Don't forget to order your copy and possibly you know of others (family members, schools, libraries, organizations & etc) who would be interested in one. The book would be an excellent gift for you to give to others.
If you're not sure what to write, call Turner's or call one of us. If you're not sure that you have a story, the answer is "YES, YOU DO!" It is the story of YOU, who you are and what your tour(s) was/were like. It doesn't matter if it is about bloody combat, a funny recollection, problems you had - whether with the weather, a cantankerous stove or typewriter, animals, the enemy, other soldiers, nature calls, equipment or whatever - SHARE IT.
We want this to be the story of DQS, DQS's service in Vietnam and of Vietnam. Only you can prevent your inclusion in this book. Some may think that only 'Hero Stories' are wanted. In a way, that is correct. Each and every one of us is a hero! Each of us served, each of us endured and each of us answered the Call to Duty! Such is what 'heroes' do. I'm proud to be counted as ,one of you'! Let's get our story out and down for history. SADDLE UP, GENTLEMEN!
