Tentative Reunion Schedule (to date)
WEDNESDAY - July 7: (Pre-reunion event) Gary Puro will lead those wishing to visit Jackson Barracks (and Museum) where on March 2, 1899 the 1st Battalion 44th Artillery was constituted into the Regular Army as Battery 0, 1st Regiment of Artillery. Jackson Barracks is in New Orleans. Gary plans to leave the hotel on the morning of the 7th . Plan accordingly if you wish to make this trip.
***We received no inquiries on the pre-reunion outing mentioned in the last newsletter. Therefore we will not proceed with this event.
The hotel hosts a cocktail party (with hors d'oeuvre) on Wednesdays for all hotel guests and we will begin moving into and decorating the Hospitality Room during the evening.
THURSDAY - July 8: We will continue setting up the Hospitality Room and add decorations as members arrive. Spend the day getting to know one another and sharing memories. View the VHS Tapes that will be available; some showing past reunions and events (there will be a tape of the activities at the 'Wall' the past Veterans Day which includes the DQS contingent), some on Vietnam, some on the weaponry we served on and other pertinent topics. Bring yours to share if you have them.
In the evening, the hotel will host a 'Welcoming Hors D'oeuvre and Cocktail Party' for those attending the DQS Reunion. Enjoy! We will continue the activities of the day throughout the evening and hold a 1/2 Pot Drawing.
