JIM MCLAUGHLIN, brother of John McLaughlin who was KIA on May II, 1969 at LZ OASIS while serving with D-4/60, would like to hear from anyone who knew or served with his brother. John was an Azimuth-Tracker with the Dusters. His brother, Jim, says that he has "so many questions" and that "it means so much to know that there are those out there who still remember, who still care!!!" Maury Drummond with the USS KIDD MEMORIAL has informed us that he has arranged with the BELLE OF BATON ROUGE for DQS Reunion and Candlelight Memorial Service attendees to eat at the Club Car Cafe, located in the Atrium near the Kidd, at a reduced price on Friday July 9, 1999! The Friday evening buffet is a Seafood Buffet that normally runs around $15 each-, however, we will be able to enjoy this fare for $10 (including tax and gratuity)! You must wear your reunion name tag to receive this special offer - Our thanks to Maury!! This will be a 'pay your own at that time' situation.
COLD WAR CERTIFICATE
Pursuant to Section 1084 of the 1998 National Defense Authorization Act, all who served in the Armed Forces or as Government Civilian personnel between September 2, 1945 and December 26, 1991 are eligible for the Cold War Certificate. You must apply for this certificate- you will not be contacted. Information on how to apply may be obtained at the following web address: http://www.sdcw.army.mil/coldwar . Request can only be made on-line. It is suggested that those without this capability contact a friend or on of the local veterans organizations for assistance. April 5,1999 was the first day that applications were accepted.
