I get a magazine from NRA , American Rifleman. It has a number of articles on U.S. Military sniper teams in Afg and Iraq today. One shot was 1775 yds. They are using the 50 cal. barrett and kicking butt. Another sniper recorded 32 confirmed kills in 13 days. Wow. They are good and now are becoming the focus of the enemy because of this!!The enemy is targeting our snipers. Interesting article. God bless our troops and I support them and their efforts.

recognizing that's over a mile for that shot! always trained us that max effective range of a .50 cal was a mile. seemed technically possibile, but can you imagine? one shot/bullet one kill.
seen some tapes upon that "rifle". some amazing marksmanship! also, rather devistating results.
p.s. wonder if that 1775 yd distance was in commemoration of the year of the establishment of our beloved organization?
