Thanks George, I am reading Con Thien by Capt James P. Coan and he talks of the air strip. The 1st time talking about the Duster and amtracks assaulting across the air strip. Also it is mentioned again , but his time he makes it sound as if is outside the wire. I'll retrace my reading and find the 2nd mention of the strip. I was at con thien for 30 days, was ambushed just south of Con Thien and worked with 3-3 Marines on a sweep North of Con Thien around the market place after a big B-52 raid. We blew a quill shaft in our engine. Limped home, got a new pack then was off again.
