mine was summer 1966; indiantown gap military reservation (igmr), pa. sure i saluted the pay officer (class a agent), but it was outdoors. also, there are times we salute indoors, most notibly when reporting in or reporting to an officer. my understanding was the navy didn't salute upon these occasions.
