Subject: NDQSA at the Wall 2009

It was cold, wet and raining. It rained all day long.
The program went on as scheduled and seemed a bit longer than usual.

The wreath laying program was rushed and for the first time the last few wreath layers were not specifically credited by name...including NDQSA and the Khe Sanh vets! Maybe because Jan's list of the names got wet...maybe?

FYI: We had sent a complimentary copy of the NDQSA History Book to Jan Scruggs earlier in the month.

The wreath layers this year were: Khe Sanh Vets: Bruce Geiger, Vin Tedesco and John Tamasaukas; NDQSA wreath: Gary Hunsaker, Jim McCoy and another whose name I did not get.

Also in the crowd: Myself (Paul Kopsick), Paul Hanson and John Norris. (if you know of any others please add to this posting.)

At a social on Tuesday we met a new contact Phillip M. Blevins of H-1/44 '71. He was a friend of Jim Oney who passed away in 2005.

It was very difficult dealing with the bad weather and meeting with people. The few Gold Star Mothers stood proud and placed there roses at the panels of their sons. Gary Hunsaker honored the name of his friend James Cribbs on the wall and we all beat a hasty departure for warmer and drier environs.

Hopefully everyone made it home safely and no one got sick.

We applaud those that were able to make the trip and for their fortitude in attending the ceremonies.

We hope to see many more of you at the Savannah reunion and back at the Wall in 2010.
