18 yrs old march 2/67--10:00 am, landed at Camp Carroll/no weapon, no nothing. Really was slow,backward and stupid to what was coming,[ the war].in 4 days i would learn real quick that i could die//they hit Carroll with 600 rounds of 122mm rockets ,arty,recoil arty weapons that tore Carroll apart for 12 or so hours/ TERRIBEL. I was so scared i chit myself and had tears in my eyes. C-1/44th ada Dusters/mobile arty 2/plt.,Days to come got me a m-14 and all the goods needed to be a Dusterman. Coming from a cow town/villa of 800 people, I was really behind on life and unsure of everything.
March 6/67 awoke me to the hell and job to come/,[ my awakening/ dear God].
Well i made it/think i left alot of me in Nam but im alive and this is my storie.
