My wife and I saw the Hurt Locker several months ago when it first came out. Yes it is very realistic and doesn't pull any punches. Probably the most realistic war movie since or prior to Private Ryan, that had me curled up in my seat in shear terror during the first 15 minutes of the Omaha Beach landing.

The Hurt Locker's riveting, unrelenting action had me huddled low in my seat throughout, but I survived and I'm very glad to have seen it... follow-up nightmares and all.

I would still recommend seeing this movie to combat veterans provided you can keep in your head that it is only a movie, albeit a very realistic one. Each time you succeed in dealing with events that may remind you of your traumatic combat experience can be very cathartic and is one more step in the healing process.

The Hurt Locker is a tribute especially to the incredibly courageous EOD teams, but also to the many brave soldiers and Marines who put their lives on the line every day in Iraq and Afghanistan.
